Micro-determination of soluble silica in urine.

چکیده

Silicon may be determined in solution by the spectrophotometric method of Dienert & Wandenbulche (1923), as modified by King & Stantial (1933). This involves the formation of the yellow silicomolybdate and the reduction of this complex to molybdenum blue by 1-amino-2-naphthol-4sulphonic acid reagent. Measurement of this colour provides a means of determining silicon. A disadvantage of this method of determining silicon is that phosphate interferes by forming phosphomolybdate, which is similarly reduced to molybdenum blue. Various methods have been used for preventing phosphate interference during silicon determination. Khaler (1941) used mineral acids to prevent the formation of phosphomolybdate. Complex-forming agents such as oxalic acid (Schwartz, 1942; De Sesa & Rogers, 1954) or citric acid (Case, 1944; De Sesa & Rogers, 1954) were used to bleach the interfering phosphomolybdate while leaving the silicomolybdate unaffected. Cxvi. the Biochemistry of Silicic Acid Viii. the Determination of Silica

THE method employed for the determination of silica in tissues and body fluids must depend on the amount and nature of the silica present. For tissues such as the lungs of workers in dusty atmospheres, where a great deal of mineral matter may be present, the ordinary gravimetric procedures are applicable. In the case of normal tissues of low silica content a micro-gravimetric method is suitable...

Determination of Amphetamine and Methamphetamine by Dispersive Liquid Phase Micro-extraction: A Novel Experimental Approach

Background: A syringe to syringe dispersive liquid phase micro-extraction-floating organic drop was applied and used for the simultaneous extraction and pre-concentration of trace amounts of amphetamine (AMP) and methamphetamine (MAMP) in urine samples. The extracted analytes were determined by high performance liquid chromatography along with diode array detection. Materials & Methods: In thi...

Application of Nanoanalysis: Amine-Functionalized Mesoporous Silica nanoparticles for Mercury Speciation in Human Samples

Mercury (Hg) causes hazardous cumulative effects in humans; like central nervous system disorders, hypertension and chromosomal aberrations. Therefore, due to high toxicity and bioaccumulationfactor, mercury determination and speciation in human blood is very important. A sensitive, accurate, precise and inexpensive method was demonstrated for preconcentration and speciationof ultra-trace mercury...
